Sharing Food and Knowledge: Bridging Community and Campus Research and Action for a More Sustainable Food System on Vancouver Island

“Affordable, Healthy Food Produced Close to Home. What will it take? How do we focus research, action, and policy to get there? Calling all Food Researchers, Educators, Activists, Community Developers, Health Promoters, Farmers and Processors, Distributors, Chefs, Government Representatives, Planners and Policy Makers! Come and share your vision to move us forward. Currently Vancouver Island producers face huge barriers to their economic viability; local indigenous food systems are at risk; and the health of our island population continues to decline. The Good news? Our brightest minds are at work, and we have a deep wealth of creativity that is engaged in meeting these challenges across all sectors. Please join us to hear from a panel of academic and community experts challenged to share their insights into focussing research, actions and policy towards opportunities that hold the greatest promise of our future. Then we turn to you – your concerns, your ideas, your actions. Focussed dialogue circles will strengthen and mobilize new partnerships for action.”
